MADRID, May 28 (Xinhua) -- Paris Saint-Germain's Spanish goalkeeper Sergio Rico is in a serious condition with a head trauma after an accident with a horse on Sunday.

PSG issued a statement which reads: "Paris Saint-Germain learned of the accident involving its player Sergio Rico on Sunday and remains in constant contact with his loved ones. The entire Red and Blue community offers them its full support."

The keeper, who was on the subs' bench as PSG clinched the Ligue 1 title in Strasbourg on Saturday, had been given permission to travel and was in the small town of Rocio in southwest Spain when the accident happened.

It is not clear exactly what occurred, with some reports saying he fell off a horse, and others saying an unbridled horse hit him from behind.

He was taken to Virgin del Rocio Hospital in Seville, where he is reported to be in a "serious" condition and under observation.

Both Sevilla FC, who Rico used to play for, and La Liga have posted messages wishing the 29-year-old a swift recovery.
