France, Australia to play 3 Tests in 11 days

France will travel to Australia for three Tests in 11 days this July, the French Rugby Federation (FFR) said on Thursday.

The matches will be held at the Sydney Cricket Ground on 7 July, Melbourne's AAMI Park six days later and the final fixture at Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium on 17 July.

Traditionally teams are given a week between Test matches.

As it stands, foreign arrivals to Australia must quarantine for 14 days, which would mean any Les Bleus players featuring in June 25's French Top 14 final would be unavailable for the first Test.

"After exchanges and a validation from public authorities, the French Rugby Federation is delighted to announce this summer tour of three matches at a very high level," FFR president Bernard Laporte said.

The series will be Fabien Galthie's first games against southern hemisphere opposition since taking over as France head coach after the 2019 Rugby World Cup.

The Wallabies won the last meeting between the two sides in November 2016.
